The Settling

January 8, 2010 at 2:04 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 1 Comment

When Day 03 came, the Space Troopers knew it was about time to settle into their new planet and fix themselves into this new world they belong in.

Graduation was an affair for the memories as their Space Commanders as well as the teachers welcomed the Troopers into the family.
The final closing with a school song as well as the school creed ended the camp with a smile on everyone’s faces.

Congratulations Space Troopers, and have an amazing secondary school life ahead!

Campfire’s Burning Now!

3kg of Kerosene
79 logs of Firewood
270 Space Troopers
21 Space Commanders
4 Space Captains
Together with Mr. Giam our Principal, Mr. Phua and Mrs. Yue  our Vice-Principals, the fantastic parents and the supportive teachers
A whole lot of AWESOME

Our campfire was launched!

The atmosphere was through the roof, or rather, through the night sky. The Space Troopers gave it their all at not only the performances but also the participation during the campfire itself.
They were the quintessential representation of the term we so often preach: 100% participation and nothing less.
Each class was tasked with creating a performance to present to the audience at campfire, and they did not disappoint.
Every one of them exceeded expectations and awed not only the parents, but even the Space Commanders who were heartened by the uplifting and joyous spirits of the Troopers.
As the night went on, the energy never died nor did it waver. This could well be the highlight of the day.

Eventually, we had to come to an end, and the award for the Best Class Performance was given out.
1/3 did exceptionally well, just a teeny weeny bit better than the rest of the performances, but that was good enough to seal the deal for them.
Congrats to all teams though for the fantastic night!

This was definitely a night to remember.

Day 02 of Recce Journey

January 7, 2010 at 6:08 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | 1 Comment

Straight out of Cryonics and taking a simple breakfast, we embarked on our Exploration of not only our school, but of the area around us.

We not only familiarized ourselves with the surrounding neighbourhood but also with the school values which were inculcated into the activity.

Another activity we immersed ourselves into was one whereby we had to discuss and list out the goals and aspirations we had as a class; as one collective unit.
Then all members of the class were to place their palm print onto the A2 paper along with their names, stating it as their signatory; their identity; their commitment to the goals listed.
As the first half of the class left their palms on the paper, it was a test of endurance for them as the other half ran out to complete given tasks and obstacles. After certain predetermined intervals, the halves of each class would swap places so everyone had a feel of how each and every single one of them affected the outcome of the class, be it for the good or for the bad.

These activities taught us more about our school values and how they apply into our lives.
It also exercised our cohesion as a team as if we are a singular unit, we wouldn’t have been able to achieve what we did together.

Area 51 Manifestation

January 6, 2010 at 11:32 pm | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

This was our toughest moment on Planet BLS yet.

Without our knowledge, a virus was released right in the canteen, and the only known antidote was being sold by a stingy and greedy pharmacist.
What we had to do was to move around the planet collecting the currency he was looking for, then go to him to purchase the antidote.

There were many peer influences running rampant, and we were challenged not only physically but also mentally by dealing with the strenuous activity and even having to deal with the rest of the group.
We learnt that we are all leaders in our own rights, and that if even the littlest person can make a difference, what more people who have great potential like us?

Space Training

After being filled up heartily with our Space Rations, our Space Commanders directed us to specific areas of this new planet at which obstacles were abundant.

We fought, we perspired, we screamed, we laughed.

Nothing could deter us from our eventual goal. Nothing could deter us from the mission.
We had a purpose, and we had to fulfill the commitment we had taken.
And, we did it.

All 7 hazardous areas of Planet BLS has been neutralized, and we are ready to set up base camp and start a new colony.

Arrival at Planet BLS!

We have landed and are all raring set to go and conquer this new planet we know so little about.
Up ahead, many challenges await us. However, nothing can deter us from heading out, fighting hard, staying strong and growing more than ever before.

We’ll be back!

Open Your Mind to a World of Possibilities..

Dr Suess once said, “be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind”.

Just as we are about to start our journey together, why not start introducing yourself here and allow more people to know you? You can also share your feelings about Planet Boon Lay and what you would want to expect from this camp. This can be done by leaving comments here..

It is when our mind is open that can allow us to open the door leading to the world of possibilities…. =)

Good day Space Troopers.

Welcome to Boon Lay Outer Space. As we embark on a  journey exploring Planet Boon Lay, we will also start to discover lots of hidden gems here.

Many of us might feel uncertain about what we are going to experience in this new environment. However, this will be an experience of a lifetime when we find ourselves opening our minds to possibilities with our fellow Space Troopers and putting in 100% in whatever we do.

With every step that we take, we know that those that we leave behind in Planet Boon Lay will be in our hearts forever.
